All throughout history, there have been two groups continually at-odds with one another: those who wished to be free, and those who wished to control and enslave them.
A simple way to think of this basic difference in attitudes would be:
Enslavers versus Free Beings.
Naturally, the range of human behavior and motivations is all over the map, and encompasses just about everything you can imagine, and maybe a few things you’d rather not. But when I say ‘Enslaver’, I’m talking about a very specific impulse and desire, which could be summed up as: the desire and intention to control, suppress, and enslave other beings.
|
control - 1. to exercise restraint or direction over; dominate; command.
suppress - 1. to put an end to the activities of (a person, body of persons, etc.).
2. to do away with by or as by authority; abolish; stop (a practice, custom, etc.).
from Latin suppressus – pressed under.
enslave - to make a slave of; reduce to or as to slavery.
slave - 1. a person who is the property of another; a bond servant. 2. a person entirely under the domination of some influence or person.

Self-determinism on the other hand, could be summed up as the ability to determine one’s own environment, associations, activities, and future, and we can see right away that this would be anathema (detested, loathed) to someone with the overriding impulse to control and dominate others.
As it happens, control is intimately connected with and dependent upon two other factors: knowledge and responsibility, and all throughout history, those “in power” have continually fought to strip both from those whom they would enslave, and knowledge in-particular has been a prime target.
The less someone knows, the more easily they are manipulated and controlled, so we should not be at all surprised at the amount of knowledge which has somehow or another been “lost” to mankind as a whole throughout history. The library at Alexandria is a perfect example of this, as is the burning of books in the middle ages and in later Nazi Germany. I suppose the confiscating of all of Tesla’s notes and papers might possibly fall into that category as well.
One of the areas in-particular which has been subjected to heavy suppression has been
spiritual knowledge, and from the days of Rome through to the Inquisition, a particularly bloody swath was laid across the pages of history.
Spiritual knowledge, as a general rule, has been denied the common man and reserved only for the “elite” who have guarded it most jealously; and anyone outside of the select group who possessed spiritual knowledge was considered a great threat.
During the middle ages, those who sought to retain and pass-along some of the ancient spiritual knowledge which had survived, were forced to do so in great secrecy, often devising intricate codes and symbols and covers. The ancient alchemist’s quest to “turn lead into gold” was actually a code for the transformation or transmutation of the human spirit from a lower state (lead) into a higher state (gold), also represented by light, enlightenment, and illumination.
Funny as it may sound today, part of the origins of the Illuminati were actually benevolent, and many within that movement were fighting the spiritual suppression of the church and trying to preserve important spiritual knowledge, but just like any other group which had some potential for good, they were infiltrated, taken-over, and corrupted into what we see today by a hidden third party.
While many people believe that the Illuminati
are the hidden third party, they are not. They are merely a lower-level front group, being controlled and manipulated by yet another
higher-level group. And so on, up the chain it goes...
Back around the time of Christ, there was also a movement referred to as the Gnostics, which comes from the Greek word
gnosis which means
knowing or
seeking to know, and one of the tenants circulating within that movement was that man
could know about himself and his true spiritual origins, and that this secret knowledge of self and the universe was necessary in order to advance to higher spiritual states.
Man
is a spiritual being, and spiritual knowledge is therefore, in reality, knowledge about
himself, and his true origins, essence, potentials, and capabilities.
So all this time, man has simply been trying to know about himself, and someone seems rather obsessed with trying to stop him.

Confront of Evil...
